Leaving her small town behind, Bethany Casse moves to Chicago in search of a new life. Working at a top financial bank brings her into contact with two men who are as different as night and day. Kent Plack, heir to Plack Industries, has no interest in being with a woman for longer than one night. A spoiled and lazy man-whore, he is completely content with his playboy lifestyle, and Beth is surprised when they form an unlikely friendship. Brian Burcham, a finance banker, is gorgeous and respectful. A man plucked from Beth’s dreams, he is definite husband material. Unfortunately, Beth has a hard rule against dating coworkers, but Brian is determined to change her mind. When a deadbeat mother and money problems follow her to Chicago, Beth is offered a solution that could fix everything. Marrying for money seems simple enough, but when lines become blurred, Beth faces difficult choices, making her realize that the easy way out just made her life even harder than before.
Well Mia Kayla has done it again! I absolutely devoured this book (literally read it in a couple hours because I just couldn’t stop myself). For those of you who have checked out my blog before you might have noticed that I read Mia’s most recent release “Everything has Changed” about a month ago. I absolutely loved it so couldn’t wait to get my hands on her other novels!
From the prologue of this book right until the end I was completely consumed. The book had so many elements to it; friendship, a love triangle, suspense. The friendship that Mia created between Kent and Bethany brought one of those stupid silly grins to my face throughout the entire thing. I loved how goofy Bethany got when she was around Kent, and how it seemed so easy for them to be who they truly were around each other. It took me a little while to warm up to Kent. He seems like the stereotypical spoiled rich boy in the beginning but he slowly started to show his true colours. I was initially rooting for Brian to win Bethany’s heart. However, as the book continued the connection between Kent and Bethany was undeniable! So when Kent screwed things up, like Bethany, I wasn’t overly impressed! I love that Kent was willing to change his lifestyle in order to be the man Bethany deserved.
I really enjoyed the secondary characters that Mia created in this story (apparently this is becoming a trend!). The relationship between Bethany and Kent’s parents was really touching considering Bethany had lost the only parental figure she had ever really had. Kendall “Kendy” was an awesome character as well, and I really loved the speech she gave at Bethany and Kent’s wedding! (I hope we get to see more of her at some point!)
I was fortunate enough to get to do an Author Interview with Mia a few weeks ago, and because of this interview I know that her next release will be about Brian (a secondary character in Marry Me For Money). He was a great character so I can’t wait to see what Mia has in store for him!
