Brian Benson is the nice guy every girl dreams of marrying.
Too bad he’s off the market—for good.

He’s sworn off women since the last girl he dated broke his heart.

Determined to start over in New York, his sole focus is to climb the corporate ladder—no distractions.

Until one minor collision propels him into the path of small-town-girl but bombshell babe, Kendy Miller.

Kendy walks with a sass she was born with.

Single and ready to mingle, she’s on the prowl.

Moving from her tiny town of Bowlesville to work as a nurse at New York Cornell Hospital, she is introduced to Dr. Hot Pants.

She feels it in her bones—he only belongs to her.

When Kendy formulates a grand scheme to land Dr. Hot Pants and uses Brian to

do it, Brian is all in because he could use a little fun.
Things were going to plan, until one night lines were crossed, kisses were exchanged and clothes flew off.
Fate collides, fortunes are tested and plans backfire, but Kendy is still determined to land her doctor.

Problem is… Brian was only there to assist in the plot. Falling in love with the girl wasn’t part of THE SCHEME.

Mia Kayla has been climbing the list of my all-time favourite authors quite rapidly! After reading her first book, Marry Me for Money, I was beyond excited that we would now be getting Brian’s story! For those of you who haven’t read Marry Me for Money 1.) GO DO THAT RIGHT NOW! And 2.) Brian was a secondary character who you couldn’t help but fall in love with!

The Scheme starts off with Brian living in New York with his childhood best friend, Trey. Brian has buried himself in work in order to prove himself to management, and to keep his mind off of the heart break he left in Chicago. I absolutely adored Trey! Mia Kayla has this amazing talent of making you fall in love with not only her main characters, but the secondary characters as well. Trey was no exception!  We get a little taste of what is going on in Trey’s life and it’s just not enough! I’m hoping we get to see a little more of him sometime in the future so we readers can find out what exactly is going on with him and Katelyn!

Brian was an absolutely amazing character in Marry Me for Money, so much so that for a good portion of the book I was rooting for him to win over the heart of the main character, Beth! However, after reading the story of Brian and Kendy I couldn’t imagine it any other way! Kendy is a force to be reckoned with! She’s forward and confident but behind that tough exterior is a girl who is scared to open her heart to someone.

“Kendy’s laugh was like an epidemic. It could spread across a room or over a crowd like wildfire. It was high-pitched, cute, and irresistible. Kind of like a child giggling. And whenever she got into her fits, she looked younger, lighter and I let her energy wash over me.”

Brian and Kendy balance each other out. They bring out the best in each other and I am so happy that Mia decided to share just how their love story unfolds! If you want a book with great characters and an absolutely adorable story, look no further ! The Scheme is just that!

Rating: 5/5

Mia Kayla is a New Adult/Contemporary Romance writer who
lives in Illinois. On the weekdays, she can be caught wearing a suit, commuting
to her corporate job in downtown Chicago and raising three beautiful munchkins
in the suburbs, four if you count the husband.
In her free time she loves reading romance novels, jamming to
boy bands, catching up on celebrity gossip and designing flowers for weddings.
Most of the time, she can
be caught on the train with her nose in a book sporting a cheeky grin because
the main characters finally get their happily-ever-after at the end.
She loves reading about
happy endings but has more fun writing them.
