Quick & Dirty Book Review: Matched by Ally Condie

For a while now I’ve been finding that I struggle writing full-length reviews when it comes to some books (this does not reflect how much I did or did not like the book). So I decided to start writing what I’m going to call Quick & Dirty Book Reviews! Basically I’m going to share my thoughts without going into the story or details too much! I’m not sure if anyone else out there is doing the same thing but if so–great minds think alike! Anyway here is my very first Quick and Dirty Book Review!

Summary: (Goodreads)

In the Society, officials decide. Who you love. Where you work. When you die.

Cassia has always trusted their choices. It’s hardly any price to pay for a long life, the perfect job, the ideal mate. So when her best friend appears on the Matching screen, Cassia knows with complete certainty that he is the one…until she sees another face flash for an instant before the screen fades to black. Now Cassia is faced with impossible choices: between Xander and Ky, between the only life she’s known and a path no one else has ever dared follow—between perfection and passion.

Matched is a story for right now and storytelling with the resonance of a classic.

Quick & Dirty Review:

I had been meaning to get to this one for quite a while now! I think the cover is gorgeous and it always grabbed my attention. The contents of the book however, struggled to keep my attention. I felt like the story moved so incredibly slow, it felt like nothing happened for the first 75% of the story. I liked the concept and I liked the characters but I just felt myself not caring because it dragged on way to long. By the time things started to pick up the book was over. I’m going to try reading the second one and I really hope the pace of the story picks up!
