These Royals will ruin you…
Ella Harper is a survivor—a pragmatic optimist. She’s spent her whole life moving from town to town with her flighty mother, struggling to make ends meet and believing that someday she’ll climb out of the gutter. After her mother’s death, Ella is truly alone.
Until Callum Royal appears, plucking Ella out of poverty and tossing her into his posh mansion among his five sons who all hate her. Each Royal boy is more magnetic than the last, but none as captivating as Reed Royal, the boy who is determined to send her back to the slums she came from.
Reed doesn’t want her. He says she doesn’t belong with the Royals.
He might be right.
Wealth. Excess. Deception. It’s like nothing Ella has ever experienced, and if she’s going to survive her time in the Royal palace, she’ll need to learn to issue her own Royal decrees.
So this book literally came out of nowhere for me, I hadn’t heard anything about it until it started popping up on my twitter feed. So I looked into it and thought I would give it a try. I couldn’t put Paper Princess down, I was addicted from the very beginning! Although once I found out that Erin Watt was actually the pen name for Elle Kennedy and Jen Frederick, I shouldn’t have expected any less! I read it in one sitting, I just couldn’t stop! I keep seeing people comparing it to cruel intentions and I have to say I couldn’t agree more. I absolutely love the characters that Erin Watt (A.K.A Jen Frederick and Elle Kennedy) has created. Ella is the main character and she is so badass and she is definitely what kept me turning the pages! When we are initially introduced to Ella she is a 17 year old high school student supporting herself by working at a strip club and posing as her 34 year old mother who has passed away from cancer. Ella’s life is turned upside down yet again when a strange man, Callum Royal comes into her life claiming to be her legal guardian. Ella goes from living on her own and supporting herself to living in a mansion with Callum Royal and his five sons. Gideon, Reed, Easton, Sawyer and Sebastian (the twins) aren’t exactly thrilled about Ella moving in with him, but none of them seem quite as upset as Reed. Reed does everything in his power to make Ella’s life miserable but staying away from her becomes too difficult. Ella is such a strong character and she holds her own when it comes to the Royals and the world they live in.
The Royal Boys are twisted but in a very intriguing way. I’m really hoping that Erin Watt decides to write a story on each of them because I am hooked (especially on Reed and Easton!). There are so many twists and turns that are thrown at you throughout the story that at times I felt like I had a serious case of whip lash! Each Royal boy seems to have some sort of secret or reason for their actions and I can’t wait for the next books to uncover what those are!
I honestly can’t say enough good things about this book. It consumed me and even after I read my next book I just couldn’t let this story go! It ended with one hell of a cliffhanger, and I was left with so many questions! In my opinion this is the book to beat this year! The Royals will ruin you.
