Bethany Casse Plack has everything she has ever dreamed of—a prestigious career, an inherited fortune, and a doting hot husband who treats her like a queen.
But not all things can be bought, especially not the one thing she wants most in the world.
Kent Plack dropped his bachelor-for-life status when a certain green-eyed beauty captured his heart. He made vows to make her the happiest wife, and he’s determined to give her the world. But when an unexpected turn of events flips him from his axis, the one thing that Bethany wants from him is the only thing Kent is unsure he can give her.
Insecurities, the past, and their different views on their future will test their marriage. Love bears and endures all things, but when their worlds are turned upside down, will their marriage survive, especially considering it was originally based on convenience?
Love After Marriage was like a breath of fresh air. Mia Kayla really went beyond the “Happily Ever After” with this one. So many romance novels end with the couple getting engaged and it implies that all their problems are magically solved when they say the words “I Do”, which is so far from realistic. I think it’s fantastic that this isn’t the case with Beth and Kent. Marriages and relationships are hard work, and as Beth and Kent experienced in Love After Marriage they go through rough patches. I love that Mia explored this aspect of marriage.
I was hooked on this story from the very beginning. Kent and Beth were such an interesting couple in Marry Me For Money, you couldn’t help but become invested in their relationship. I got that same feeling with Love After Marriage. I couldn’t put this book down and ended up finishing the story in one sitting. Mia has such a great writing style and how she goes about building relationships between characters is absolutely perfect. I have to say I was a little surprised when we didn’t hear more from Kendy in this one, but I loved how Caroline progressed as a character and stepped into that best friend/protector role for Beth. I was very happy with the fact that Kent’s parents still played a role, I enjoyed the relationship they formed with Beth and as a reader I was thrilled to see more of that. I thought that bringing Jason into the storyline really added another element, sometimes the past comes back and to be honest I was happy with the way it made Kent squirm! In Marry Me For Money Kent really grew on me. Throughout the book he became the swoon-worthy man that Beth deserved, that started to slip in Love After Marriage so I think Jason was the wakeup call he needed. I really didn’t see the reunion with Jamie coming and I was pleasantly surprised with how she had changed her life around. My favourite part of Love After Marriage was seeing the self reflection and progression Kent made as not only a character, but as a man. I loved seeing him step into the role of Father.
Love After Marriage was an emotional ride and I enjoyed every second of it. Mia Kayla has a way of creating characters that you can’t help but care about and I can’t wait to see what she has in store for us next!
