Review:

When I was chosen to receive a copy of Elle Kennedy’s upcoming release Ruled (thank you!), I was pleasantly surprised to find that it was the third book in the series. So I hurried to find the first two and absolutely devoured them! The world and characters Kennedy has created in this series (like in most of her books) are absolutely intoxicating; I can never seem to get enough. Now while I loved the first two books in the series, I had some concerns about Ruled. For starters I’ve never been too crazy about the leading lady, Reese. For some reason she just rubbed me the wrong way and I was worried I wouldn’t be able to make it through a story that focused on her. Secondly, I had never read a book that’s main focus was a ménage a trois. So while I was a little hesitant to give this one a go, I remembered that this is Elle Kennedy were talking about and how I not at could least give it a chance! And I’m so happy I did!

In Ruled, we get to catch up with some of our favourite characters from the previous two books but the main focus is on Reese, Rylan and Sloan. Rylan has been one of my favourite characters of the series, he always provided a good dose of comic relief but you could always tell he had a more serious and sensitive side so I was thrilled that we got to explore that more in Ruled. Sloan caught me by surprise, like Reese I wasn’t drawn to him originally. Throughout the book the walls that Sloan has put up around him start to come down and behind those walls was one swoon-worthy man! Like I said I have never been too crazy about Reese, and if I’m being honest for most of this book my feelings towards her remained the same. As the story goes on you start to see different sides of Reese and while I had a difficult time relating to her, I started to appreciate her character. I realized that in the world Kennedy has created a character like Reese was needed.  As I mentioned before I have never read a ménage a trois story before, but let me tell you, it was hot! Elle Kennedy knows how to write one hell of a sex scene! While there is a lot of sex in this book, the aspect of the book that really drew me in, is the world Kennedy has thrown these characters into. I’m seriously hoping this isn’t the last one in the series because I have so many unanswered questions! I’d really love to see a book for both Dominik and Pike!
