Series: The Torn Duet #1
Release Date: January 23, 2017
I believe in fairy tales — the kind where a knight in shining armor sweeps me off my feet. Coming from a broken home, fairy tales housed the hope I clung to. Never in my life did I imagine two knights coming into my life— two knights that wore very different armor.
A rockstar versus a lawyer.
Fast and furious versus deliberate and calculated.
Intense and passionate versus strong and devoted.
Chaos versus stability.
I fell in love with one in the craziness of a concert.
I fell in love with the other in the silence of his compassion.
And now I am Torn Between Two.
It’s been almost two years since I came across one of Mia Kayla’s books, and since then I have become a huge fan of her writing and stories. I have read every book of hers and with every book comes a cast of characters that I just can’t seem to get enough of. Torn Between Two was no exception!
The main character of the story is Sam, a pastry sous-chef who is anxiously awaiting her happily ever after. The last thing Sam expects, is to find herself caught in the middle of a heart-breaking love triangle. Who are her two leading men? The first one is the bad-boy lead singer of the rock band Def Deception, Hawke. Now as many of my review readers know I usually avoid stories that have even an ounce of an insta-love situation. However, for Hawke and Sam it somehow works for me. The things that bond them run deeper than the rock star persona, so I understood Sam’s instant affection towards him. The two meet after a concert Sam attends in Chicago, and after their first kiss Sam is continually drawn to him despite the hard-ships that come with dating a rock star. Sam meets our second leading man while shopping at the mall. Josh is working as a shoe salesman in order to put himself through law school. He is such an entertaining and charismatic character, and as a reader I couldn’t help but adore him from the very beginning with his witty and goofy charm. Throughout the story, each character pulls in you emotionally and you truly feel torn between Hawke and Josh (although I will admit I do have a favourite!) They both represent something different, and each bring out a completely different side of Sam. This story is a powerful tale that is packed with emotion and it leaves you feeling completely torn apart.
Like I said, Mia Kayla always creates a cast of characters I can’t get enough of! and I can’t wait to get my hands on the second part of this duet! So if you enjoy a good love triangle I highly recommend you get your hands on this book now! When you’re done–please come back and share with me if you too are Torn Between Two!
