Review:

Reading Heir of Fire took a while for me. I had a hard time getting through the middle portion of the novel but towards the end things really picked up and I couldn’t wait to get my hands on Queen of Shadows! While Heir of Fire took me well over a month to get through, I finished Queen of Shadows in two days. From beginning to end I was completely consumed with this novel!

While many of the new characters were introduced in Heir of Fire, I found that Queen of Shadows really went into depth with these new characters. Before reading Queen of Shadows I had a difficult time accepting these new characters, some of them I just straight up didn’t like. In this novel, Sarah J. Maas allowed the readers to see the many different aspects of each character including ones that have been around since the beginning. By developing these characters further, they became very vivid and three dimensional. I love the strong female characters that Maas has created in this world, and I can’t wait to see how they continue to develop and grow throughout the rest of the series.

As always, the writing was amazing but I really thought Maas stepped it up a notch with this one and I can’t wait to dive into Empire of Storms! This year I created a book club hosted on Facebook and the book that was chosen for next month is the first book in Sarah J. Maas’ second series, A Court of Thorns and Roses. I can’t wait to start it! I used to say that fantasy novels just weren’t for me, but Maas has 100% without a doubt changed that! I will definitely be reading everything this author releases!
